Thy Kingdom Come - For To Us a Child is Born, To Us a Son is Given
1. IMMANUEL GOD IS WITH US
Matt 1:23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."
Ps 118:5-7 I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free. 6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Is 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
2. GOD IS WITH US AS THE MIGHT GOD WHO HEALS AND SETS US FREE
Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed • Crush – trample, shatter into pieces, bruise, grind down, & smash
Ps 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Isa 49:9 to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!'
Col 1:13-14 God has rescued us from the power of darkness and has brought us into the kingdom of his Son, whom he loves. 14 His Son paid the price to free us, which also means that our sins are forgiven.
John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
• Mary saw him as a little baby but the Father saw him crucified
1 Peter 2:24-25 by his wounds you have been healed.
3.GOD IS WITH US AS AN EVERLASTING FATHER
Matt 6:9 "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name
Luke 15:20-23 "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. 21 "The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. (For my son has returned home to me)
Ps 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.
4.GOD IS WITH US AS A PRINCE OF PEACE
Lk 2:13-14 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
Jn 14:27 my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
• We can’t have the peace of God until we have peace with God
Rom 5:1 we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Col 1:20 by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
