Faith Speaks –Faith Lessons From the Mother of Our Faith

1. Faith Speaks –Faith Lessons From the Mother of Our Faith

Is 54:1-5 “Sing, Childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, you who have never been in labor. For the childless woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord. 2 “Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! 3 For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your children will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.

2. Sarah and Isaac vs Hagar and Ishmael

Gal 4:23 But Ishmael, the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while Isaac the son of the free woman, Sarah was born through God’s promise.

Heb 11:1 It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. Hagar (Ishmael) impatience, born out fear based thinking and decision making, getting ahead of God, leaning on our own limitations, the flesh Sarah (Isaac) the promise of God born out of patience and endurance Hagar brings fear and bondage while Isaac brings faith, victory, joy and freedom from limitations and from past setbacks and mistakes

Prov 3:5-7 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.

3.Mothers of Faith and Courage Sing in the Face of the Impossible

Is 54:1 Break into loud and joyful song, you who have never been in labor.

Gen 18:10-15 Abraham and Sarah were old by this time, very old. Sarah was far past the age for having babies. Sarah laughed and spoke within herself, “An old woman like me? Get pregnant? With this old man of a husband? 13 -14 God said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh saying, ‘Me? Have a baby? An old woman like me?’ Is anything too hard for God? I’ll be back about this time next year and Sarah will have a baby.” 15 Sarah lied. She said, “I didn’t laugh,” because she was afraid. But he said, “Yes you did; you laughed.”

Heb 10:23 Let us hold on to the confession of hope we say we have and not be changed. We can trust God that He is Faithfull and will do what He promised. Faith lives or dies based on our internal conversations The devil is afraid of your confession, that’s why he puts the pressure

Prov 31:25 She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear at the future.

4.There is Freedom From Yesterday’s Mistakes

Gal 4:29-31 at that time the Ishmael son born according to the flesh attacked the Isaac son born by Faith. It is the same now. 30 For the Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son. 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. We will never walk in tomorrow’s inheritance living in yesterday’s regrets. Our past will always attack our future, so cast it out

Is 54:4 4 “Fear not; you’ll no longer live in shame. There’s no more disgrace for you. You will no longer remember the shame of your youth and the sorrows of widowhood.
